LOW INCOME HOUSING GRANT
PROJECT
U.S.E.E.G. is currently
requesting federal, state, and local government funding for a grant project to benefit the lower income households in
Wicomico, Worcester, and Somerset counties.
As many may know, the programs currently available to assist lower
income households in the tri-county area are overwhelmed by larger numbers each year. The government funding these programs
receive is no longer enough to meet the rising demand for help.
Energy bills are on the rise and more and more
people are feeling the pinch.
U.S.E.E.G. is proposing a way to help not only the low income households, but also
the programs that are in place to help them.
If we secure the funding we have requested, we will be using it to
make energy efficient/ H.V.A.C. upgrades in 1,000 (+) of the qualifying households in this area over the next 5 years.
These upgrades are expected to drop the energy cost in these households anywhere from 20-75 %. These decreases
should in turn lower the amount needed by the programs established to aid these households, and allow more families to be
helped, without increases to said programs funding.
